Team gears up for the 2023 Connexis Line Mechanic Competition

Invercargill, 1 September 2023 – Waipā Networks is poised to leave an indelible mark on the upcoming Connexis Line Mechanic Competition 2023, scheduled to unfold in Invercargill this September. Since its revival in 2005, Waipā Networks has consistently demonstrated its commitment by lending unwavering support and active participation. This year is no exception, as the company readies a formidable team to compete for the championship title. The team embodies a harmonious blend of diverse experiences and talents, making them a force to be reckoned with.

Leading the pack is Tom Hemara, a seasoned line mechanic with over 20 years of industry experience. His history of triumphs adds a layer of expertise that elevates Waipā Networks’ participation. Accompanying Tom is his Trainee, Leighton Hemara, a pivotal asset to the team and the competition.

Jamie Milne, a familiar face on the competition circuit, contributes a wealth of experience and finesse. Gary Muraahi, a seasoned industry leader, guides the team and is venturing into personal competition for the first time. Their combined mastery and unwavering dedication epitomise Waipā Networks’ pursuit of excellence.

In a testimony to their commitment to youth training and development, Mark Mita from Waipā Networks has been honoured as a finalist for the Connexis Excellence Award in the “Contribution to Investing in Youth Training and Development” category. While two trainees were nominated for the Distribution Trainee of the Year, this year’s finals might have eluded them, but their dedication remains commendable.

The Waipā Networks team is sparing no effort in gearing up for the competition. The week leading up to the event is packed with intensive training sessions, reflecting the company’s unwavering enthusiasm and dedication to the industry.
