Looking to make changes to an existing connection? Perhaps you want to increase or reduce the power supply on your property. Here’s the information you need.

 

Fees to change your connection:

If you’re decreasing load, we don’t charge a fee for this. However your electricity retailer may at their discretion.

If increasing in load, an inspection fee of at least $98 including GST is charged, depending on what work needs to be done. Load increases can also incur additional connection fees.

These fees will be detailed in the application process.

Changing supply of power

The supply of power to a property can vary over time. This is common for commercial users given their changing business needs. If you’re planning to increase or decrease the amount of power you consume on a property, it’s important to inform us so we can make the necessary arrangements.

Combining connections

If a property has multiple dwellings or units it can be more efficient to only have one meter.

For example, if you run an Airbnb accommodation, have a granny flat or sleepout, this may be the perfect option for you.

The process of combining connections is easy.

Step 2: Allow your registered electrician to complete the work at your end.

How long does it take to change a connection?

Connection timeframes may vary depending on the complexity of the connection. A simpler connection may take a couple of days and more complex connections make take a few more weeks. Please allow for this in the application process.
