The role of the Storeperson
You will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operations of our store, supporting the Purchasing & Stores Manager in maintaining a well-organised and smoothly running inventory system. You will be part of the Commercial team, which drives commercial discipline across the business, including stores, procurement, and contract management. Your role will ensure that supplies are available in a timely and cost-effective manner, contributing to our overall efficiency and ability to meet operational goals.
Key responsibilities:
- Stock Management: Receiving, inspecting, and organizing goods, maintaining accurate inventory records, and assisting with stock takes.
- Stores Administration: Supporting the development of procedures for material storage and assisting with administrative tasks.
- Yard & Plant Maintenance: Ensuring the upkeep of yard facilities by liaising with contractors for maintenance work.
- Deliveries: Safely unloading goods from delivery transport, ensuring proper handling and storage to prevent damage. Use of a forklift for heavy loads is required.
About you
- Experience in a stores or warehousing role with an understanding in stock management would be advantageous but not essential
- Forklift licence with F endorsement is required
- Physically fit and able to lift and move heavy items as required, up to a maximum of 20kg
- Strong additional to detail and accuracy, especially when handling inventory and documentation
- Ability to work in a face-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
- Proactive and safety conscious, with a good understanding of Health & Safety requirements
- Basis computer skills for inventory management and store administration tasks.
