You will manage geospatial data, ensuring its quality and integrity while automating and integrating processes of ESRI mobile applications with Python and FME.

Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be key as you integrate GIS solutions into business processes. You will support field data collection, provide technical assistance, and contribute to developing GIS standards and best practices. Staying updated on GIS advancements and proactively improving our GIS capabilities will be central to your role.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform spatial analysis and modelling to address geographic challenges and generate actionable insights for business objectives.
  • Create and automate GIS tools, scripts, and workflows and integrate ESRI mobile applications with Python and FME to improve operational efficiency.
  • Manage and maintain GIS and asset data, including data entry, editing and ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and completeness through regular quality control checks.
  • Generate maps, charts, and reports to visualise results and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Plan and execute field data collection activities using GPS/GNSS equipment and mobile mapping technologies, verifying and updating existing GIS data.
  • Manage and support the deployment of mobile apps to field personnel and provide technical assistance with GIS-related issues, troubleshooting software, hardware, and data connectivity problems.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate GIS solutions into business processes and contribute to developing GIS standards and best practices.

About you

With a tertiary qualification in GIS, Engineering, Geography, Surveying, IT, or a related field and 3-5 years of experience in the GIS industry, preferably with ESRI technologies, you bring valuable expertise to the GIS Analyst role at Waipā Networks.

Your background includes significant experience in GIS analysis, visualisation, data transformations with FME and Python, and interpreting and maintaining as-built information in GIS. You are adept at asset management, working with Enterprise GIS and ArcGIS Online (AGOL).

You have experience in geospatial analysis for network optimisation, outage prediction, and infrastructure planning. You’re also experienced in preparing and deploying mobile apps and retrieving and processing post-field collection (including spatial data download, processing of spatial attachments, auditing/tidying, conversion to different formats and mapping outputs).

Knowledge of the power industry and infrastructure is a plus, as are technical skills in Safe Software FME products, ESRI Geodatabases, the Utility Network model, and ArcGIS Pro.

You possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a positive attitude, and confidence in your abilities. Committed to high-performance standards, you thrive on continuous improvement and learning, making you a proud representative of Waipā Networks.
