The role of a Line Mechanic Team Leader

You’ll lead a dedicated team in constructing and maintaining overhead and underground power lines, ensuring the seamless operation of our network. Your leadership will be crucial in coordinating the efficient and profitable delivery of network construction and maintenance projects.

You’ll work closely with project managers and work schedulers to achieve optimum work delivery and ensure early reviews of work packs and adequate planning are in place. You’ll oversee team resources, proactively coach and develop team members, and ensure full compliance and readiness of assigned fleet and equipment. Sounds exciting, right?

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead crew members in constructing and maintaining overhead and underground power lines
  • Coordinate and plan work activities with scheduling and project managers to ensure efficient delivery
  • Ensure regular maintenance, compliance, and stocking of assigned fleet and equipment
  • Uphold all health and safety protocols, leading incident investigations and advocating for a zero-harm environment
  • Coach and develop team members, identifying and addressing skills or knowledge gaps
  • Oversee the allocation of resources and daily responsibilities, ensuring team readiness and compliance with safety protocols
  • Liaise with stakeholders across various departments and Landowners.

About you

With at least five years of experience in the electricity distribution sector, a current EWRB practising licence, and a minimum Level 4 NZQA qualification. You’re ready to step into a leadership role with the team at Waipā Networks. It would be advantageous if you have experience with project coordination and team management. But we’re also interested in your genuine enthusiasm for continued growth and openness to taking on new responsibilities as your career develops.

You’re a passionate and driven leader who’s always ready to take on new challenges and inspired to develop your career further in the electricity distribution sector.

You’ll be eager to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in. You’ll be ready to guide and mentor your team, ensuring they are motivated and well-prepared for any task.

You’ll have a knack for problem-solving and can make decisions quickly and accurately. Your collaborative nature will be key as you build positive relationships with our team, customers and community.
