The role of a Faultsperson 

The role reports to the Faults & Events Manager and is ideal for individuals who are eager to continue learning and growing within their careers while also acting as constructive mentors for entry-level Faultsperson.

As an experienced Faultsperson, you’ll be part of the Waipā Networks team responding to faults and ensuring uninterrupted service to our consumers. But that’s not all. You’ll also assist with network construction, maintenance and contracting work. Sounds exciting, right?

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing connection services, testing, and support for electricity retailers, service providers, and customers.
  • Assisting in responding to reported faults, outages, or emergencies, and take appropriate action to restore power supply.
  • Responding to, assessing, and attending to assigned customer service requests.
  • Performing high voltage switching and isolation of plant.
  • Managing system switching, maintenance and faults on the 11kV and 400V/230V lines.
  • First call faults response on an assigned roster.
  • Assisting with carrying out repair and maintenance work.
  • Identifying and reporting any unscheduled work to enable recording of network equipment that is not safe or functional.

This role is a permanent full-time role, with a minimum of 40 hours per week, with additional hours being paid at an overtime rate of 1.5. The pay range is $38 – $44 per hour, depending on your experience, with additional allowances available depending on your certifications.

You’ll be someone with an eagerness to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in, ready to gain more practical and hands-on experience in the Waipā region.

You’ll also have a knack for problem-solving and have the ability to make decisions quickly and accurately. Your collaborative nature will be key as you work with our team, customers and community, building positive relationships.

Your qualifications will include

  • Heavy vehicle license (minimum Class 2) is preferred
  • Current EWRB registered practicing license
  • A minimum of 3 years of hand on experience within the electricity distribution network industry
  • NZQA or equivalent recognised qualification as a distribution line mechanic for faultperson would be required in the absence of the above experience

Lastly, you’ll also be a strong communicator and team-oriented but also be self-motivated to get the job done.
