CAMBRIDGE NETWORK IMPROVEMENTS

Investing today to support a growing community

We’re investing in the electricity network across Leamington and Cambridge to support continued growth and help keep power reliable for the people and businesses who call the area home.

Why we’re investing

Cambridge and Leamington are growing, and the way people use electricity is changing too.

Investing in the network helps us keep pace with that change – providing the capacity communities need today, while planning ahead for new homes, businesses, technology and greater choice in how people use electricity.

It also gives us the opportunity to renew and strengthen existing parts of the network, helping keep power safe and reliable for the future.

Work underway and coming up

RMU installations

We’re installing ring main units (RMUs) – equipment that helps us manage and control the local electricity network. These are typically green boxes on the side of the road. This work is expected to be completed in early 2027.

11kV cable renewals

We’re replacing sections of existing underground cable, with work expected to be completed in early 2027.

Alpha and Bryce Street network upgrade

We’re upgrading part of the 11kV network around Alpha and Bryce Streets, with work expected to be completed in early 2027.

Leamington network capacity upgrades

Further work is planned to increase network capacity and support growth in Leamington. Delivery timing is still being confirmed.

Leamington 33kV cable

We’re planning an upgrade to the 33kV network in Leamington to provide additional capacity for the area. Delivery timing is still being confirmed.
