Proud to support Waikato XV in Te Awamutu

We’re proud to again partner with Waikato Rugby and Te Awamutu Sports as matchday partner for the Waikato XV match against Hong Kong China at Albert Park on Wednesday, 24 June.

Entry is free for all supporters, giving local rugby fans the exciting opportunity to experience top-level rugby under lights in the heart of the Waipā district.

The event marks the second year of our partnership with Waikato Rugby, following last year’s Farah Palmer Cup fixture in Cambridge. This year, we shift the focus to Te Awamutu with a one-off match featuring the Waikato XV and Hong Kong China.

General Manager of Customer and Community, Anna Watson, says supporting community events like the match is a natural fit for a customer-owned network.

“We love being a part of local events that bring people together and create positivity for the communities we serve,” says Watson.

“Being able to help make the match free for the public was important to us, because it gives more local families, clubs, and supporters the chance to experience representative rugby close to home.”

“Reflecting on last year’s event in Cambridge, the fantastic community turnout despite the poor weather reinforced why partnerships like this are important for our organisation. Hopefully we have clearer skies this year and an even bigger night for Te Awamutu,” she adds.

Waikato Rugby’s Leon Holden is looking forward to bringing representative rugby into the district.

“The Te Awamutu area has some great clubs like Te Awamutu Marist, Te Awamutu Sports, Kihikihi, Ohaupo and Pirongia and so it is awesome the district can host a game of this magnitude.

“Our club players have been preparing for this game with anticipation and excitement and I look forward to them enjoying the occasion.”

Fans can expect a great atmosphere at Albert Park as Waikato XV takes on Hong Kong China under lights.
