Waipā Networks Chief Executive to step down at year-end

8 October 2025 | News

Waipā Networks Chief Executive Sean Horgan will step down from his role at the end of December 2025 after more than three years leading the organisation.

Horgan has led a period of strong growth at Waipā Networks. Under his leadership, we’ve invested heavily in capacity and resilience, strengthened future-focused capability, improved performance and delivery across the business, and deepened community partnerships.

Board Chair Jonathan Kay acknowledged Horgan’s contribution:

“Sean has provided strong leadership during his time with Waipā. He has set a clear direction for the business, strengthened the business, and enhanced our presence in the community. We are grateful to him for his leadership and wish him every success in the next stage of his career.”

Horgan said it had been a privilege to serve Waipā Networks and the Waipā community:

“I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together—lifting performance, investing for the future, and staying true to our community focus. The business is in a strong position, and I know the team will continue to deliver for Waipā.”

Horgan will join MainPower New Zealand Limited, the electricity distribution company for North Canterbury, as their Chief Executive in January 2026.
