Residential connection
You can use the process and application form below for a new residential connection.
A straightforward job requiring no network upgrade takes about 30 days to process and be approved. Please note this doesn’t include your electrician’s work or your Retailer’s connection process. Anything more complex can take four to six months.
If you need a network upgrade, our Projects team will contact you for more information. Please note a non-refundable $1,000 deposit is required before a quote will be provided. If you decide to proceed with the work, this $1,000 will be deducted from your quote. The current lead time on quotes is four to eight weeks.
If you’re doing a subdivision, please complete our Subdivision Connection form.
If you’re doing a commercial connection, please complete our Commercial or industrial connection form.
Once we receive your application, we’ll begin the process.
You must pay an administration/site visit fee of $172.50 (incl GST) for your application.
You may also be charged the following fees:
- Inspection fee (if Waipā Networks engaged) of $98 (incl GST). Please ensure the site is ready to avoid multiple inspection site visit fees.
- Standard connections up to 70kva of $2,727.80 (incl GST)
- Non-standard connections 70kva and over of $39.10 per kva (incl GST)
Once invoiced, you can pay the application fee by online banking into our account, using your name as the payment reference. We don’t accept credit card payments.
Once we receive your application fee, we’ll progress your application by reviewing your documents, scheduling a site visit, and/or assigning a Project Manager.
