Tesla arrives in New Zealand
Electric carmaker Tesla is taking orders from New Zealand customers now, with plans to open stores to support the vehicles sold here.
You can currently order the Model S and Model X vehicles in New Zealand from their website with the first vehicles expected to arrive in late May 2017.
Auckland will get the company’s first store and service centre and superchargers are planned for Auckland to Wellington during 2017. With Waipa’s new fast chargers available in Cambridge and Te Awamutu, we can expect to see more Teslas in our local communities as the numbers of them around increase.
The Model S product line includes the quickest production car, the P100D, with a 0-100 kmh time of 2.7 seconds when in one of the car’s driving modes called “ludicrous”, along with a range of up to 613 kilometres. The Model X line-up features all-wheel drive capabilities, towing, and five, six, and seven seat configurations.
New Zealand pricing for the Model S starts at $122,300 NZD and the Model X starting $145,600 NZD plus on-road costs.
