EVolicity sponsorship helps develop young minds

Waipā Networks supports the EVolocity race day held in Ohaupō next week as part of a focus on nurturing the next generation of talented minds.

Students aged 7-13 from Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and Rotorua will showcase their self-built electric vehicles in teams or individually.

The EVolocity event aims to break down barriers and inspire Rangatahi into sustainable engineering while fast-forwarding New Zealand’s clean tech future.

Students attending the event will design, build and race their self-built electric vehicles to make their vehicle the fastest with the least drag and can cope with a tight street circuit.

Results from last year’s survey found that 76% of students were interested in mechanical engineering, and 91% learnt engineering skills due to the event. These results have made a solid case to run the event annually.

Waipā Networks staff will be involved in judging the competition and will offer valuable insights about working in the industry.

The EVolocity race day fosters a strong sense of community spirit with students, teachers, parents and industry professionals all gathering to celebrate the innovation, success and passion this event brings.
