We pay discounts to our customers twice a year through your Retailer electricity bill. We are committed to informing you about the latest discount methodology and payment schedule changes. Please read on for important updates and answers to commonly asked questions about our customer discounts.
Recent discount payments (rounded, including GST):
- October 2024 $3.35 million, covering April to September 2024
- April 2025 $2.75 million, covering October 2024 to April 2025.
- June 2025 $110,000 (Estimated – actual will be slightly lower due to vacant properties) to bring the total paid for the financial year ending 31 March 2025 to $6.21 million.
Transpower Loss Rental Rebate:
In February 2025 Transpower paid Waipā Networks a special rebate relating to Loss Rental Rebates from August 2021. $93,841.77 of this was distributed to customers in the April 2025 discount and is additional to the $6.21 million customer discounts paid for the year.

Do I qualify for a Discount?
If you were physically connected to Waipā Networks and registered with an electricity retailer on and as of 26 June 2025, you qualify for a discount.
How was my share calculated?
A fixed amount of $3.22 ($3.70 including GST) has been paid per ICP (customer connection).
Previous discounts have been based on my electricity usage. Why is this a small, fixed amount?
Waipā Networks budgeted to pay $5.4M ($6.21M including GST) in total discounts for the financial year to 31 March 2025. The total amount we had paid following our April 2025 discount was less than this, so we are paying a small additional discount per ICP to bring the total paid to $5.4M ($6.21M including GST).
I just left the area – will I get a discount?
Discounts were credited to accounts on 26 June 2025 (or a day or two later, depending on the Retailer billing cycle). If you were responsible for the electricity account on the day the discount was paid, you should have received it.
What wording will show on my account?
“Waipā Networks Discount” or a similar description will appear on your account.
