Cable locations
Avoid any nasty or expensive surprises underground.
For both your own safety and that of the electricity network, it’s important to know what’s underground before starting any excavation work. The beforeUdig website provides free information on the location of cables, pipes, and other utility assets in and around proposed dig sites.
For work involving Waipā Networks assets, we offer a free cable location service (8:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday, excluding public holidays), including plans, cable locating, and physically marking underground assets on your property.
When underground power cables are privately owned, the responsibility for locating and protecting them falls to the owner. We can assist in locating privately owned cables for a fee. Our current charges for this service are detailed in the table below.
