Waipā Networks champions a safer Guy Fawkes for all
Waipā Networks is once again proud to sponsor the unforgettable and awe-inspiring annual Illuminate Light and Sound show, which will be held on 9 November this year.
After a successful inaugural event last year, “Illuminate” returns to the banks of Lake Karāpiro with a display of light and sound to delight the local Waipā community.
Waipā Networks general manager of customer and community Anna Greenhill says the event, which is part of The Great Kiwi Summer Festival, is the perfect option for local families who want to come together and celebrate Guy Fawkes in a safe way.
Each year, the show supports a local charity, and this year, funds will be raised for the Cambridge Volunteer Fire Brigade.
“Illuminate provides an opportunity to educate our community on how we can gather responsibly, take away the fire risks that come with fireworks, and keep our animals safe,” says Greenhill.
Each year, local fire brigades see a spike in callouts to extinguish fires caused by fireworks and assist with injuries from private Guy Fawkes gatherings gone wrong.
“Tickets are on sale now, with some complimentary tickets also available through Cambridge Community House and Kainga Aroha in Te Awamutu to help remove the cost barrier for local families who want to attend the event and enjoy an exciting evening out at Lake Karāpiro,” says Greenhill.
Illuminate incorporates cutting-edge technology, a live DJ, family entertainment and face painting, delectable food vendors, and a range of exciting attractions.
