Waipā Networks would like to congratulate their five crew members on attending the Connexis Annual Line Mechanic Competition.

The competition was this year held from 27-29 September 2022 in Levin, the first competition since the beginning of the COVID19 pandemic in 2020. Waipā Networks are a regular competitior in this annual event and this year sent a team of five crew members to compete; Tiaan Stynvaart, William Daniels, Jamie Milne, Calvin Hill and Joe Broughton.

The event requires teams to compete and complete a number of tasks including pole installation, electrical theory, earth bank installation, hardware installation, pole top rescue, first aid and build and EBZ.

The competition is a chance for those in the industry to showcase their extraordinary talents and to connect and network with others in the industry.

This year was special for many reasons, as well as being the first event since the COVID19 pandemic began, it was also the first year that an all-women’s team competed. The team, aptly named Ultimate Woman comprised of crew members from both Unison and Electrix.

The overall winners were Wel Networks with Ultimate Women second and Downer placing third. Waipā Networks took out an award for Crane Operations.
