Are Solar Panels Right For Your Home?

On the face of it, solar panels sound like a great idea being able to harness “free” energy from the sun.  Waipa Networks has our own solar panels at our depot in Harrison Drive, Te Awamutu, and also at the Lakewood development in Cambridge.  The solar panels installed at each site were designed to match the electricity demand, with very little electricity being left over needing to be exported off site.  This is typically a lot easier for businesses to achieve than homeowners as often power usage in a home is lowest when solar generation is highest, as shown in the graph.  Being able to use the bulk of solar power within the property itself is one of the key factors in it being the right economic decision.  For more information on solar power and if it’s right for you check out the handy calculation tool on the Government’s Gen Less website: https://tools.genless.govt.nz/individuals/solar-tool/
